To showcase their new watches, Seiko has taken to some very aggressive advertising techniques. In addition to now being on television, I have see magazine insert booklets, along with promotional goods. They are seriously working to up the value of the brand, and get more people wearing Seiko watches. In Japan, Seiko has a much different following than they do here. They are best known their for their broad range of functional and good looking diving watches (which are mostly used for everyday use). However, prices there are still in the hundreds, not thousands of dollars.

E-ink is incredibly battery friendly because it only uses power when it redraws itself. There is no need for back-lighting or constant energy consumption. You can have it set to redraw only on each minute, which extends the battery life several years. The Seiko Spectrum is essentially an interesting concept watch in production form. It is beautiful, eye catching, and unexpected. The numbers are drawn in a fanciful cursive writing that takes some getting used to. The idea is not legibility, but rather a presentation of what e-ink can, and will continue to offer innovative watch makers such as Seiko.

There was a time when Timex was the word in mass-market blase time keeping. They might as well have had the catch-line "when all you want to do is know what time it is." So utterly devoid of any aesthetically redeeming qualities, Timex continues to pour out watches that could be purchased at your local super market or swap meet. The biggest threat to Timex? The cell phone. People who wore Timex watches could care less about what is on their wrist or what it looks like, they just need to know the time. Enter cell phones and you have your instant time teller always with you, and you don't need a watch. Perhaps not as convenient as the time on your wrist, but you don't have to wear a watch ugly as sin around anymore when your cell phone is in your pocket.
The watch also tells you solar and lunar time, which again does not really matter to most people. It also has a calendar function which is cool, but again, you'll have to figure out how to use it. Looking at the complex series of lines and information on the face of the Astrolabium (why does that sound like something on a space woman?) reminds me a sextant or other antiquated piece of navigation equipment. It might have proven useful to a select number of people at one point, but today, it is just an expensive novelty. As I have said for other watches, imagine your watch winder breaks, or for whatever reason this watch stops? Another 4 month long trip the Ulysse Nardin shop for "reprogramming." If you ever have the opportunity of wearing one of these watch around for the day, you'll find yourself asking other people what time it is, because you'll be damned if you are going to find out for yourself.
One of the good things about a G-Shock fan is that there are so darn many models out there. And they're updated frequently, so if you don't see what you want, it'll be there sooner than you think. We've reviewed quite a few G-Shocks, and think that they represent excellent value and function. Today's review is of the AWG101-1V, an analog-digital watch very similar to the GW-1310. Compared to the 1310, this one uses a red hour hand and reverse LCD displays (black on white) but is otherwise of similar style.
Much of the time when I go into a watch store, I will enjoy talking about the style, price, and movement, and design of the watch. Half the time the retail people have no idea what I am talking about, and even more of the time, they could care less. The experienced retailers so consumed with the fact that they sell expensive watches that their behavior is so arrogant as to completely turn me, and likely yourself, off to the prospect of buying a watch with them.
The accuracy of the Citizen Chronomaster is not the only admirable feature. Depending on the model, you can get a very nice case and bracelet that looks like steel, but is actually white ion-plated titanium, with an 18k gold bezel as pictured above. The effect is an understand watch with gold trim that is light and very durable. No one would know this fact save for the person wearing the watch. For this reason some people love or hate the Citizen Chronomaster. From afar it might appear to be just any ordinary watch, but for the esteemed wearer of the watch, it is a solidly reliable timepiece with a sophisticated movement and high grade materials.

As a product enthusiast I tend to have very strong opinions regarding how a company presents itself. Marketing and sales tactics, while not necessarily consumer friendly conversation is one of the most important parts of doing business. We have all had good and bad experiences with a company, for no business is perfect. However, when a company imbues anti-consumer sentiment right into their sales method and product development, I get really pissed off.
I recommend the Tag Heuer Link series to anyone. At 42 mm the case is respectably sized without being too large, and the bracelet is a nice 22 mm is width. The watch will look good on any wrist, and it very comfortable. This watch slowly grows on you if you do not like it at first. As a gift it is perfect because even if the recipient is not a watch lover, they will wear the watch endlessly without thinking twice. Good job Tag Heuer, I knew there was a reason you were so popular....
